BRIAN's KAYAKING the RIVER SEVERN for MND RESEARCH

BRIAN DUDLEY 5th July 2018 This event has closed

Story

The adventures continue ... after completing the JOGLE in 2016, this July,  Paul and I, supported by Mike, are kayaking the River Severn - 127 miles in 4 days!

We are raising money for RESEARCH into a cure for the devastating MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE.  In 2016 our family sadly lost Margaret, my mother-in-law, to this cruel and relentless terminal illness.  Currently there is no cure for this neurological condition which gradually robs a person of speech, mobility, the ability to eat and even breath.  The sufferer becomes trapped in a motionless body reliant on those around them, whilst continuing to have a vibrant and unaffected mind.

In 2014 the world raised awareness for this disease (also known as ALS) with the ice-bucket challenge.  Little did we know that as Margaret took photographs of my wife pouring iced water over my son's head that 8 weeks later she would have the dreadful diagnosis.  She died 18 months later.   Margaret rests in the esteemed company of Stephen Hawking who also suffered from this cruel disease.

Cures have been found for so many things, RESEARCHERS are so close to finding a cure for this and other neurological conditions - by donating to this cause you can indirectly help them all.

Your support would be greatly appreciated.

All my Best

Brian
